Dear Parents,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Shiloh Elementary for the 2009-10 school year. You are joining a very strong community that values high expectations for both academics and behavior. Our teachers and staff work diligently to provide a challenging and secure environment for students to learn and apply the Gwinnett County Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum. We strongly believe that the partnership between the school, family and community is essential to educating and preparing students for the future. Our school motto, Strong Minds, Strong Hearts, Strong Communities exemplifies this commitment and provides a focus for our efforts. Each of us has an integral role in ensuring that our students receive the best educational experience possible.
You can support your children’s academic performance by attending school meetings and by keeping in close contact with your children’s teachers. You will receive a monthly communication from the school as well as weekly progress information from the classroom. As always, please encourage your children to do their best academically and to never allow inappropriate behavior to enter the school. Be sure that children get plenty of rest, eat well, schedule time to complete homework, and read daily.
The Shiloh PTA has earned the distinction of National PTA Parent Involvement School of Excellence because of its commitment to and support of the educational process at the school. To continue this proud tradition, parents are encouraged to become members of the PTA on behalf of students at the school. Our goal is to reach 100% membership of both faculty and parents. PTA also challenges parents to donate at least 10 hours of service or volunteer time to the school each year. Look for information at the PTA booth, which will be displayed during Open House on August 6 and during Curriculum Nights August 20 and 27. The PTA welcomes any and all questions, comments, and assistance as we work together to enhance the learning opportunities for students at Shiloh Elementary.
The Shiloh Elementary handbook has valuable information, including school regulations, faculty and staff information, lunch schedules, and a calendar of events. Please read through it carefully and keep it in a handy location for quick reference. Shiloh Elementary enjoys a reputation of excellence built on strong parental involvement, community support, and high expectations for student achievement.
We consider the elementary school years to be a vital foundation for your children’s future success. Our goal is to provide the best possible education for each child. Please contact me if you have questions or suggestions about our school. I look forward to leading and learning with you during these next months.
Sincerely,
Betty Ann Schoeneck
