Student Activities

Shiloh students enjoy a variety of extracurricular learning experiences. These experiences provide exciting opportunities for students to showcase their talents.

 

Shiloh Morning News

Shiloh Morning News, a student operated TV broadcast program provides an opportunity for students to try their hand in the broadcast booth while providing important information to our students and teachers. Morning News is sponsored by Ms. Debord.


 

Safety Patrol

Safety Patrol consist of 5th grade students. The goal of the Safety Patrol is to improve safety during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. Patrols are stationed around the school to help remind students of the "Shiloh Way". Members were selected for their courtesy, dependability, interest in helping others, and respect for others. Safety Patrol is sponsored by Ms. Reynolds.


 

Patriot Singers

The Patriot Singers is our school's chorus. The group is comprised of 121 auditioned singers in grades 2nd through 5th. We perform throughout the year at PTA events, cluster events such as the Black History Month Celebration and the Fine Arts Festival, as well as putting on an annual winter play and spring musical. Select students participate in both State and County Honor Choruses. Patriot Singers is sponsored by Ms. Ginn.


 

Reader's Rally

The Shiloh Reading Team is comprised of 4th and 5th grade students. These students are recommended by their teachers, and must be willing to read 5-6 books from a predetermined list between November and February. The members meet after school to discuss what they have read, and create practice competition questions for their books. The selected students have a chance to compete in the Gwinnett County Readers Rally which is a reading competition where elementary teams from across the county compete. Student Council

Student Council is the student governing body run by elected student leaders. The Council activities promote leadership and planning skills. Council members play an important role in the school, sponsoring special fundraisers and addressing problems at the school. Student Council meets on a regular basis. Student Council is sponsored by Ms. Muggridge.

Chess Club

Is your child interested in chess? Whether in third, fourth, or fifth grade, playing for fun or competition, brand-new to the game or experienced, the PTA Chess Club is a great place to learn and have a great time!
Weekly meetings most Wednesday shortly after school from 3:00pm – 4:30pm beginning September 14, 2011 and ending March 28, 2012. (Healthy snack provided) *If students want to compete, there may be additional practices called to prepare for matches.

Witzzle Pro Math Club
Witzzle Pro club is open to any 4th and 5th grade student. A witzzle (witty puzzle) is comprised of a unique 3–by-3 array of the digits 1-9. Students are challenged to manipulate 3 digits and 2 operations to equal a target number. Students must draw on their knowledge of basic math facts, understanding of number and operations, and problem solving strategies. The witzzle pro club will meet once a week on Wednesday math morning at 7:15am. The Club will participate in a tournament at Shiloh ES and then in a county wide tournament.Witzzle Pro math club is sponsored by Dr. Dickey.
